20th Century Burlap
Recently I discovered something eerie that seems to directly refer to our first short and first 48 hour film fest submission “The Body in Burlap,” whose logline since the beginning has been: “An unassuming gardener is asked to dispose of a mysterious girl.”
Behind the Scenes: Night at the Museum
This may be one of the most interesting behind the scenes videos for the making of a film I’ve seen. Lots of good descriptions of roles, lots of good rundowns of process, and good footage of the process as a whole. You get to see it rather than just talking heads describing it. Plus when people explain their job on set WHILE on set, rather than a year later as they sit on a couch with a video camera on them, it’s much more accurate and informative.
Cool stuff! I wish a video like this was available when I was first trying to figure this all out in middle school!
Royalty Free and Free!
I’m never super thrilled when it comes to the audio mixing portion of the editing process. It’s not really my thing. So certainly, already finding the whole process to be a challenge, I’m never going put the time in to record my own sound effects for every thing you hear in every project we do. Most of that is already recorded by someone who knows what they’re doing. And most of the time, that costs a lot of money to obtain. Especially if you want a decent selection.

More From Creator David Boostrom on ‘Turkey Day’
My good friend David Boostrom just completed a 4-minute animated short for the FOX/Aniboom Holiday Animation Challenge. I lent my voice to one of the characters – the dorky wizard! – and Kim did the audio recording for my work. Frequent collaborator and friend from way back David Boostrom just finished his holiday cartoon for FOX’s Aniboom contest. We’ll have more on the making of “Party From ’83: Turkey Day” including a step-by-step on the process, and a few more comments from Mr. Boostrom about his experiences creating a cartoon essentially solo.
This is my favorite short film ever.

Bartender Wars wrapping up
The host Egypt has been off this week and the crew is shooting drink beauties in the meantime.
The show wraps up next week with two more episodes left to shoot! That means only two more opportunities to be a patron on the show as well.
Look for a lot of Boiling Sky friendlies in the background of the show when it airs in October on Fine Living Network.

Beach Video Shoot Today!
Heading to Coney Island to shoot a music video for Bermuda Bonnie in pure sun and 90 degree heat. Hopefully we get some great footage out of the 5DM2 and HF100 before being carted off to the ICU.

A short film/tv pilot called “Together” that I did the titles animation and color for has won the Accolade Award of Excellence:
It is currently being shopped around as a television show to networks.
